Analysis
Target learner profile identified
Learning gap is identified
Cause of learning gap is established
Needs assessment is conducted
Organizational goals are established
Spoke with the founder of Drought Stories to identify the organizational goals, overall learning goal, knowledge gaps, target learners, stakeholders, and resources.
Implementation
Learners:
-engage in the learning experience
-complete pre-assessments,
formative and summative assessments.
Will be completed in the future.
Development
Learning activities and learning materials are created
Learning environment is developed (if necessary)
Assessments are created
Created the assessment items. Storyboarded and created the e-learning module. Linked module to the webpage and LMS.
Evaluation
Assessment data is analyzed to evaluate:
-whether learning objectives
have been met
-Kirkpatick’s 4 levels of
evaluation (reaction,
knowledge, transfer, and
impact)
Will be completed in the future.
Design
Learning activities and learning materials are created
Learning environment is developed (if necessary)
Assessments are created
Used the information from the analysis phase to create learning objectives, and choose types of assessments, instructional methods, and learning activities. Chose the Learning Management System (LMS) and e-learning authoring tool. Researched declarative knowledge needed to develop the learning activities.
INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGN PROCESS

Instructional design is a process that uses research based best practices in learning and assessment to maintain engagement, motivation, and cognitive balance in learners, resulting in effective learning experiences.
The strategies used in instructional design, while intentional, are not necessarily linear. Instead, steps in the process are constantly reexamined, revisited, and revised with the intention of constantly improving the likelihood of achieving the learning objectives, and facilitating the success of learners (Smith & Ragan, 2005).
For my project, I followed the A.D.D.I.E. model. Scroll down to see a description of each phase in the process and how they were implemented.
